Tanner M. Choate
Tanner is an attorney at Gauthier Murphy & Houghtaling, where his practice focuses on first-party property insurance claims and litigation. He represents commercial and residential policyholders in disputes arising from property-damaging events, helping clients understand and enforce their rights under their insurance policies.
Before joining the firm, Tanner handled a high volume of first-party property damage claims in both pre-litigation and litigation, working across a wide range of loss types including fire, flood, wind, hail, and lightning. He has experience working directly with engineers, contractors, and adjusters to evaluate damages and move claims toward resolution.
Tanner also brings litigation experience from his prior work representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters in cases ranging from minor accidents to catastrophic injuries.
Tanner earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School, where he received a certificate in Civil Law and served as Senior Online Editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.
Originally from Abbeville, Louisiana, Tanner grew up in the heart of Cajun Country. That background continues to shape how he approaches his workâpractical, direct, and grounded in the communities he represents, wherever they may be.
